ErasmusDays

On October 14, 2022, for the 6th edition of the Erasmus Days, the Geeks for Education project team invites you to a conference entitled
“Science for ALL – Inclusive STEM Education in Practice”.

We will give the floor to a panel of project leaders, key speakers who combine their technical skills with their creativity to propose innovative and inclusive projects from formal and non formal education.

4 speakers from the Geeks for Education project partners will explain their approach to inclusion with their respective audiences and share examples of good pedagogical practices:

Dea Septiani, Student and volunteer with WIDE, “The Convergent Deck-Building game”.

She will talk about a Card game developed by WIDE to raise awareness on STEM skills and female STEM role models to boost inclusion through game-based learning.

Aspa Kralli, Communication Officer and Nancy Papaioannou, Web Designer at InterMediaKT, Greece « Digital accessibility & Inclusion ».

How to think and act inclusively, when designing website and digital tools. The do’s and dont’s of accessibility on the digital world, we have the tools and the resources to design accessible websites, but do we really know how to make them inclusive? InterMediaKT team will talk about the combination of these two features and how to best employ them, when thinking about inclusion.

Susana Constante Pereira, Project Manager and Facilitator at Aventura Marão Clube, Portugal « STEAM in Nature as a tool for social transformation »

At a moment in our collective life when crisis, tension, and fast pace are keywords, it is fundamental to contribute to social transformation through nurturing ourselves and deepening our values towards ecology and society. Not only does STEAM Education plays a role in this, but also nature as a context, as a means, and as a part of being is an essential element in setting the ground for experiencing Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Maths starting from our most primary conditions as humans. This communication addressed this subject, based on the practice of Aventura Marão Clube, in general, and within Geeks for Education.

Amina Tandjaoui, Associate Professor in Material Sciences, and Responsible of the programme « Cordées de la Réussite » and Yannick Dusch, Associate Professor in Physics at Centrale Lille, François Cler, Math Teacher and Coordinator of the Math Lab at Collège Paul Verlaine, France « Stimulating Curiosity for Scientific and Technological Disciplines : how to overcome social inequalities? »

The stimulation of scientific curiosity comes from the early exposure to scientific culture. Nevertheless, social biases play a major role in the choices that young people will make. In this presentation, we will tell you about two programs that put inclusion at the centre of our activities. The different actions implemented use different methodologies to show that sciences and higher education studies are accessible to all.

The ErasmusDays have become a major annual event for education, training, youth and sport stakeholders. More than 2000 events are already planned all over the world, and we are happy to participate!
