The new steps to follow and the good progress of the “Geeks For Education’’ project verified.
The European project ‘’Geeks For Education’’ aims to improve inclusive education to develop digital skills and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) through closer cooperation between schools, innovators and non-formal education providers.
The project was created with the intention of familiarizing students with STEM skills. These STEM experts have the technical and scientific knowledge to face the digital and technological revolution, but in general, they lack the social and communication skills to spread that knowledge.
During July 20 and 21, the second transnational meeting of the project was held, in a hybrid way, since some partners attended the meeting online due to the pandemic situation in their countries, and other partners attended in person, taking place in Amarante, Portugal. The project partners who have participated in the meeting come from Italy (2050 and Fabcube), France (Centrale Lille Institut, Collège Paul Verlaine and CNRS / Nano-Ecole Lille), Luxembourg (WIDE / Women in Digital Empowerment Luxemburg), Greece (InterMediaΚT and CTI Diophantus), Portugal (Aventura Marao Clube), Hungary (FabLab Budapest and AKG Budapest) and Spain (Inercia Digital).
During the meeting, the partners reviewed the collected practices and the SELFIE reports corresponding to IO1. together with the presentation of practices or projects related to the project.
Regarding IO2, the partners discussed our experiences and conclusions (skills and methods necessary to improve inclusive education in the STEM field) in the development of the activities and the workshop that took place in May.
The IO3 planning was shown, explaining the steps to follow from a starting point to achieve the objectives of attracting and presenting the digital realm and STEAM, and providing a more extensive educational experience.
Finally we had a session to discuss different communication, administrative and impact aspects.
It was a pleasure to attend this meeting, even if it was online. We wanted to thank all the partners for the great effort they made so that the meeting had great results and we could draw some very interesting conclusions. We hope that in the next transnational meeting all the partners can meet in person!
